Publication Ethics Statement
Commitment to Research Integrity
The Journal of Clinical Intensive Care and Medicine (JCICM) upholds strict publication ethics to ensure academic integrity, scientific transparency, and respect for ethical research practices. We follow the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
Ethical Principles for Authors
- Submit only original work free from plagiarism, falsification, or data fabrication.
- Provide accurate citations and acknowledgments of prior work.
- Disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.
- Ensure all co-authors have approved the manuscript and its submission.
- Comply with ethical approvals for studies involving human or animal participants.
Responsibilities of Editors
- Make independent editorial decisions based solely on scholarly merit.
- Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
- Investigate ethical complaints fairly and promptly.
- Publish corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern when required.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective and constructive reviews within the agreed timeframe.
- Report suspected ethical issues such as plagiarism or duplicate publication.
- Maintain confidentiality and avoid personal or professional bias.
Addressing Misconduct
JCICM follows COPE’s flowcharts to handle cases of research misconduct, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, data manipulation, and unethical experimentation. Actions may include manuscript rejection, retraction, institutional notification, or blacklisting of authors in severe cases.
Human and Animal Rights
Research involving human participants must follow the Declaration of Helsinki and include informed consent. Animal studies must comply with internationally recognized animal welfare standards. Authors must provide ethical approval statements in their manuscripts.
Corrections and Retractions
If significant errors or ethical violations are identified post-publication, JCICM will issue corrections or retractions promptly. Retractions will remain permanently accessible with a clear statement explaining the reason.
Data Sharing and Transparency
Authors are encouraged to make underlying research data available in repositories to support transparency and reproducibility. Data availability statements should accompany submissions where applicable.
