Copyright and Licensing
Author Rights and Retention of Copyright
At the Journal of Clinical Intensive Care and Medicine (JCICM), authors retain full copyright to their published work. By submitting to JCICM, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish, archive, and distribute the work in print and electronic formats. This approach empowers authors to reuse, distribute, and adapt their work without restrictions.
Open Licensing Model
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license allows:
- Reproduction and distribution of the work in any medium.
- Adaptation, remixing, and transformation of the work.
- Commercial and non-commercial use of the work.
- Mandatory attribution to the original authors and journal.
Publisher Responsibilities
JCICM ensures that all licensing terms are transparent and accessible. Published works are deposited in digital archives and repositories, accompanied by license metadata to guarantee discoverability and legal clarity.
Third-Party Content
Authors must secure permission to use copyrighted third-party material (e.g., images, figures, or datasets) before submission. If such material is included, appropriate acknowledgments and permissions must be provided. Content without secured permission cannot be published.
Attribution Requirements
When reusing or citing work published in JCICM, proper credit must be given to the original authors, article title, journal name, volume, issue, and DOI link. Example citation:

Compliance with Funding Mandates
Many funding agencies require open access licensing. JCICM’s CC BY 4.0 licensing ensures compliance with policies from organizations such as the NIH, Wellcome Trust, European Research Council, and others.
