Introduction

The Journal of Clinical Intensive Care and Medicine (JCICM) follows an author-pays open access model, where Article Processing Charges (APCs) cover the costs of peer review, editorial processes, online hosting, DOI registration, indexing, archiving, and long-term digital preservation. This Charges Policy ensures transparency for authors, institutions, and funding agencies.

Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Authors are required to pay APCs only after their manuscript is accepted for publication. APCs vary depending on article type:

  • Original Research Articles: $2,949
  • Review Articles: $2,949
  • Case Reports: $2,949
  • Short Communications / Letters: $2,949
  • Clinical Images: $2,949

Fees may be revised periodically. The most up-to-date charges are listed on the APC page.

What the APC Covers

  • Editorial assessment and peer review management.
  • Copyediting, typesetting, and formatting.
  • Permanent open access hosting with DOI registration via CrossRef.
  • Indexing and archiving in major databases and repositories.
  • Long-term digital preservation with LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, and Portico.

Waivers and Discounts

JCICM supports equitable access to publishing. Waivers and discounts are available for authors from low- and middle-income countries, as outlined in our Waiver Policy. Editorial board members and frequent reviewers may also qualify for partial fee reductions.

Payment Methods

APCs can be paid via:

  • Credit/Debit card (secure online transaction).
  • Bank transfer (details provided upon invoice).
  • Institutional or grant-based payment.

Refunds

APCs are generally non-refundable once an article is published. Exceptions are outlined in our Refund Policy, covering cases such as duplicate payment or journal-side errors.

Exemptions

Editorials, invited commentaries, and articles commissioned by the editorial board are exempt from APCs. Fee waivers may also be granted on a case-by-case basis for exceptional circumstances.
